Question 1

Do I need SendSurface SMTP to send emails?

Accepted Answer

No. SendSurface does not operate an SMTP relay or manage IP pools. You connect your existing email service (Amazon SES, SendGrid, Mailgun, SMTP2GO, Mailjet, Elastic Email, or your private VPS).

Question 2

Can I use Amazon SES?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Amazon SES is fully supported via authenticated SMTP. You can send 10,000 emails for approximately $1.00 directly on your AWS bill.

Question 3

Can I use SendGrid, Mailgun, or SMTP2GO?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Simply input your provider SMTP host, port 587, and your API key or SMTP credentials.

Question 4

Does SendSurface store my SMTP password or API secret?

Accepted Answer

Credentials are encrypted server-side using AES-256 before writing to disk. The frontend browser never receives passwords or secrets back after initial entry.

Question 5

Can I track email opens and link clicks?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SendSurface provides tracking pixels for opens and URL rewriting for link clicks. You can even configure a custom branded tracking domain like track.yourdomain.com with dedicated A-record ingress.
